Build Your Own Solar Panel

Economy is bad today. Most people are having a tough time financially. We look for ways to save money. We are here to tell you about a great idea on how you can save money each month and help protect our environment also. Sound good so far, right. Power4Home DIYGreat, then this is an article that you will want to read. We are going to give you some information about solar energy and how you can build your own solar panels.

Solar energy is energy that is radiated from the suns rays. When the suns rays meet with a solar panel it produces electricity. This electricity can help power your house, therefore cutting down on the amount of utility electricity that you and your family use, which will lower your monthly bills and in return save you cash as well. Another fantastic advantage of using solar energy is that there are no gases that are released to pollute the atmosphere. It is all clean reusable energy. If you use solar power you will also be doing your part in slowing the process of global warming. Yes, you’re right if your thinking “I can’t do this on my own”, but if more people switched to alternate power sources, then we could really thwart global warming.

So now you know what solar energy is. And you now know that a solar panel is the most essential piece of solar energy system, because it is the connector.

Let me tell you some things that you need to do before you start constructing your solar panels.

  • First you must make sure that you are allowed to put solar energy into the house that you reside in.
  • You need to calculate how many watts of electricity that you use every 24 hours.
  • Last but definitely you need to find out how much sunlight is in your area daily, so that you will know how many solar panels you will need and how big they need to be.

Now you are finally ready to build your solar panels.

Here are some things that you will need to make your homemade solar panels. You can very easily make your solar panels out of wood. Just get some plywood about 3/8 inches thick. Add ¾ by ¾ inches of wood around the edges. You should also put a strip of wood down the middle of the panel also of ¾ inch thick wood. This panel will allow two sets of 18 solar cells. Then you will need two pieces of Masonite pegboard, and place them in the panels. It is a good idea to paint and weather stain the plywood and the pegboard, to protect them both from the weather. Then after you put the pegboards back in, you need to set your solar cells inside the panels, soldering them to one another. Then you will need to keep the cells in place using caulk. Then you will need to anchor the panels in place with screws. Then your solar panel will need blocking diode. After this is all done, you can attach plexiglass to the front of the panel and you are all finished. Well, we have given you the basic idea. You can get more adventurous instructions on many sites online.

Now you know how to build a solar panel. It is a lot cheaper to build one yourself then to pay someone in the housands of dollars to build one for you. Think you can do it? Sure you can and then you will be on your way of saving lots of money while protecting the environment. Power 4 Home System - BookPower 4 Home DVD
